Who we are

Mile High Men's Retreat (registered for text messaging as “Mile High Mens Retreat”) is a volunteer-run men’s retreat. It is not a company or a corporation. This website and the retreat’s text messages are run by its volunteer organizer, Steve N.

What we collect

When you register for one of our retreats we ask for your name, mailing address, email and mobile number, and for the weekend retreat any bunking requests, plus any notes you give us. We use it to run the retreats: confirm your spot, take and track payments, assign rooms, and get in touch about the retreat. We may also email past attendees about the next retreat; every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.

Card payments are made through PayPal. We see the amount and whether it went through, never your card number.

When you type your street address on the sign-up form, Google’s address lookup suggests matching addresses. What you type in that box goes to Google to find them. Nothing else on the form goes to Google.

If you want to, you can also tell us who to call in an emergency, anything the organizers should know about your health, and your food needs. These are optional. Only the organizers see them, and the kitchen gets just your food needs, with your first name and last initial. They are never in our email lists, our spreadsheets or on a public page. Your own registration page shows your food needs so you can change them; for the emergency contact and the health note it only says that we have them. We erase all of it from the site 30 days after the retreat ends, and from its backup copies too: our nightly backup copies are kept for 14 days, so it is gone from them 14 days after that. Our month-end copies, and the copy we email for safekeeping, are made without it.

We keep your sign-ups from different years together, so the organizers can see your history with the retreat. If you use the ride board on your registration page, the organizers see your post. Another man sees only your town until you both say yes to riding together. Then each of you sees the other’s name, phone and email. Ride posts are never in our email lists or spreadsheets.

If you ask us to tell you when registration opens, we keep only your email address and use it for that. Feedback after a retreat is anonymous: we don’t ask for your name or email, and nothing that says who you are is saved with your answers.

What we don't do

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We never sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the retreat (PayPal for card payments, our text-message and email providers and our web host), and only for that purpose. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from all of the above and will not be shared with any third parties, except our text-message provider, which uses them only to deliver our texts. Mobile numbers and texting opt-in information are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Text messages

If you tick the optional text box when you register, or turn texts on from your My Registration page, Mile High Men's Retreat (sent by organizer Steve N.) will text you about your registration: a confirmation, your room assignment for the weekend retreat, reminders 7 days and 1 day before the retreat (with any balance still due), and — only if you ask for them — short heads-ups before each scheduled activity during the retreat. Message frequency varies: about 5 texts per retreat, plus, if you choose them, up to 30 schedule heads-ups during the weekend retreat (up to 10 during the Day Retreat).

  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP at any time to stop all texts. If you replied STOP, reply START to turn them back on.
  • Reply HELP for help, or call or text Steve N. at 909-240-8004.
  • Reply SCHEDULE ON or SCHEDULE OFF to turn the schedule heads-ups on or off.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Texting is optional. You can register and attend without it — everything we text is also on your My Registration page. See also our Terms & Conditions.
